March has arrived and with it comes change! Winter fades away into a distant dream, and we look forward to spring and all its green. A lot of changes happen during this time. People are spending more time outdoors and we are letting the fresh air into our homes. No one wants to think about spring cleaning, but it has to happen!

In our experience, there are a some common changes that affect your home comforts and we would offer the following recommendations and reminders for spring

• Changes to tenets? Significant changes of people moving out or people moving in can impact your fuel usage. To help avoid running out of fuel, let us know if you have any changes. Even a new baby in the home can cause an uptick fuel usage. The house is kept warmer and the demand for hot water increases.

• Make sure pathways to your tanks and fills are kept clear. Spring cleaning can take a lot of room. When arranging and storing items outside, please make sure that access to your fills and tanks are not blocked. If we are not able to access the fill point, we cannot fill. The safety of our drivers is a major concern and if we are unable to safely access your building’s facilities we cannot make the delivery. This includes snow and ice buildup on top of tanks and fill points.

• Look over your entire system to make sure you have no new developments. Check for rust, breakages, leaks, or odd sounds and/or odors. Your system efficiency could be negatively impacted and you could be loosing valuable money! If you smell propane while checking your system, and you did not just receive a delivery, shut off the flow of fuel from your tank into your home and call for maintenance immediately. If the smell is very strong, evacuate the area immediately and call the fire department.

• It is time to schedule your annual tune-up! You can beat the rush by scheduling your annual tuneup in the spring and summer. This way you will be ready to run at full efficiency when fall arrives.
